Multi-room audio with the devices you already own
Updated 29 October 2026
You don't need to buy a speaker system for music throughout the house. A Mac, a few phones in a drawer and a Bluetooth speaker or two are often enough.
What you need
- One Wi-Fi network that every device is on.
- A source: a Mac (macOS 14.2 or later), Android phone (Android 10 or later) or iPhone (iOS 17 or later).
- One device per room that plays as a speaker, optionally with a speaker connected.
Give old phones a second life
An old Android phone or iPhone that still runs Android 10 or iOS 17 makes a fine speaker for the bathroom or kitchen. Leave it on the charger and pick it as a speaker in Allsono.
Bluetooth and AirPlay speakers
Connect a Bluetooth or AirPlay speaker to one of your devices and it plays along. Such speakers play later than the device itself; Allsono measures that delay and accounts for it, so they stay in time with the rest.
When a speaker system suits you better
If you want fixed speakers in every room that are always on, without a phone or laptop next to them, a system such as Sonos suits you better. Allsono is for using the devices you already have.
Try it yourself
Allsono is in beta and free for Mac, Android and iPhone.
