Using your Android phone as the source

Updated 29 October 2026

An Android phone (Android 10 or later) can be the source. Allsono captures the sound of your apps and sends it over your Wi-Fi to the speakers.

How to start

  1. Open Allsono and tap "Make this phone the source".
  2. Android asks whether Allsono may share your screen. Confirm it: Allsono only uses the sound, never the picture.
  3. Pick the devices that should play along with "Use as speaker".
  4. Start music in an app of your choice.

Which apps work

YouTube, YouTube Music, podcast apps and most other apps simply share their sound. Some apps block it on purpose; Spotify is the best-known example. Allsono then shows "This app doesn't share its sound" and keeps the sound on the phone itself.

Want Spotify on all your devices? Send it to a Mac with Spotify Connect and make the Mac the source.

What the phone itself does

Under "Sound on this phone" you choose whether the source plays along itself. Unlike an iPhone, an Android phone can delay its own sound, so it plays exactly in time with the speakers. You can also keep it silent.
