How Allsono works: from install to playing
Updated 29 October 2026
Allsono has two roles: one device is the source and plays the music, the other devices are speakers and play along exactly in time. Here is how to set that up.
Before you start
- Create a free account on allsono.com and install the app on every device that should play along: Mac, Android phone or iPhone.
- Sign in with the same account on every device. You can use up to 5 devices at once.
- Put every device on the same Wi-Fi network. They then find each other by themselves under "Devices nearby".
1. Pick a source
The source is the device you play music on, in any app you like. On a Mac you tap "Become source", on Android "Make this phone the source" and on an iPhone "Make this iPhone the source".
- Mac: the first time, macOS asks whether Allsono may record system audio. Allow it; only then can Allsono share the sound of your apps.
- Android: you get the system prompt for screen sharing. Allsono only uses the sound, never the picture.
- iPhone: pick "Allsono" in the broadcast sheet and tap "Start Broadcast". Also read the guide on the iPhone as the source.
2. Add speakers
On the source you see the other devices in the list. Tap "Use as speaker" next to a device. That device asks "Play along?"; confirm it, and within seconds it plays along.
You can also do it the other way round: on another device, tap "Listen along" next to the source.
3. Play and adjust
- Start music in any app on the source. All speakers play the same moment.
- At the top you see how precise it is, for example "In sync within 0.3 ms", and how large the buffer is.
- Does one device still sound slightly ahead or behind, for example because of a speaker attached to it? Open "Fine-tune" for that device. If it runs ahead, choose +; if it runs behind, choose −.
- Done? Tap "Stop sharing" on the source, or "Disconnect" on a speaker.
Good to know
- The sound only travels over your own Wi-Fi. Internet is only needed to sign in; offline, Allsono keeps working for up to three days.
- Updates arrive in the app itself: you get a notice when there is a new version.
Try it yourself
Allsono is in beta and free for Mac, Android and iPhone.
